Aloha and welcome to the West Kauai Nurse Aide Training Program.  Our program is certified and licensed by the State of Hawaii Department of Human Services.  We have been in operation since 2008.  This is a 100 hour training course.

Our training program provides comprehensive nurse aide training and prepares students for a rewarding career as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA).

Our program seeks to instill compassion and respect for the dignity of others; we uphold the highest standards of care for individuals who need assistance with their daily living activities.

Program Overview

  • 3 week CNA training course approved by the State of Hawaii, Department of Human Services.
  • All nursing supplies are provide with the exception of uniforms.
  • Application fee of $25 (non-refundable) and class fee of $1800.
  • The cost of taking the Nurse Assistant Competency Certification Exam and CPR are not included in the class fee.

Who can apply for this Program?

  • Immigrant nurse while preparing for their State Nursing Licensure
  • Nursing Assistants
  • Caregivers, Personal Care Assistants
  • Home Health Aides
  • Certified Nurse Assistants whose certificates have expired.
  • Certified Nurse Assistants from another state whose certificate is not endorsed by State of Hawaii.
  • Nursing students who want to start working in HealthCare field.

Training/Admission Requirements

  • Participate in person interview with Program Director or instructor to assess the applicant’s personal desire and commitment for becoming a Certified Nurse Aide. This interview will also assess the academic and behavioral requirements expected of students and their understating and acceptance of their financial obligation for the class fee.
  • Have a criminal history report free of prohibitive offenses.
  • A two-step Mantoux Test (TB Test)
  • Hepatitis B Vaccination.
  • The occupational responsibilities of a CNA may involve having full use of their hands, ability to stand for extensive periods of time, ability to perform bending, pushing, pulling and lift and move between 35-50 lbs.
  • Women who are pregnant must have a signed letter from their OB/GYN Physician stating that they are able to meet the occupational responsibilities.
  • The candidate must be 18 years of age before taking the Hawaii NAT Certification Examination.

A CPR and First Aid certification class can be scheduled by appointment.  The class fee is $80.

West Kauai Nurse Aide Training Program reserves the right to deny admission to an applicant on the basis of the interview if it deems that the applicant does not possess the aptitude and desire necessary for successful completion of the program.
